How to reach Adi Kailash and OM Parvat from Delhi?

You can reach Kathgodam from Delhi via 15013 Ranikhet Express (DLI -KGM)
Timing: 22:05 - 5:30
Departure day: Everyday

You can avail of Volvo Buses from Delhi to Kathgodam which will drop you at Haldwani and you can reach Kathgodam(7km) via Local Transport which is easily available there.

You can directly reach Kathgodam railway station at 09075 Mumbai central SF Special Fare (MMCT TO KGM) 11:00 to 14:30, 1 Night(27 hrs 30 min), Departure Day- Wednesday.

There are no direct trains available from Ahmedabad to Kathgodam. You can reach Delhi from Ahmedabad by different trains like those given below and then book Ranikhet Express from Delhi. or any other train of your comfort to reach Kathgodam

How to reach Adi Kailash/chota kailash and Mount OM/OM Parvat via flight or Air?

Pantnagar Airport: Pantnagar is the last airport 35 km from Kathgodam, so if you want, you can reach Kathgodam via Pantnagar with the help of commercial flights. You can book a taxi from Pantnagar to reach Kathgodam.

Pantnagar offers domestic flight services to Delhi, Dehradun and Lucknow. Indigo and SpiceJet offer flight services to Pantnagar from Delhi. It takes about an hour to reach Pantnagar from Delhi. If you are travelling from a distant state of India to Adi Kailash and OM Parvat then you can book your flight to Delhi and then to Pantnagar.

Helicopter Services : Uttarakhand is a hill state so that is why there is a scarcity of Big Commercial airports in the region. As for now, Adi Kailash Yatra is not done by helicopters or choppers because of its sensitive location and no Permission has been issued yet for it by the government. The helicopter is issued only under emergency situations of Help and Rescue by the Administration of Area. You need to travel to Kathgodam and further through a network of roads to reach Adi Kailash and OM Parvat. Pithoragarh town does have an Airport but it has not been operational for 3 decades due to some technical issues. If in the future government allows Helicopter service beyond Dharchula then Trip to Temples will surely work on the project of getting Adi Kailash and OM Parvat Yatra done by helicopter.

  • Gunji/Napalchu to Om Parvat to Gunji: 22 km/ 2 hours approx
  • Gunji /Nabi/Napalchu to Dharchula to Didihat: 144km/5 hrs 20 min approx

The total distance covered in Adi Kailash and OM Parvat Yatra is 825 km approx (Kathgodam to Kathgodam). The real adventure of Adi Kailash OM Parvat starts in Dharchula. Dharchula to Adi Kailash distance by road is approximately 130 km and Dharchula to OM parvat distance by road is approximately 110 km. So a total stretch of 250 km both ways is covered from Dharchula to Dharchula on the newly constructed road. The road is not well pitched and is unequal in many spots so that is why sometimes it might take more than expected time to reach Gunji/Napalchu or Nabi.

Where is Adi Kailash & Om Parvat situated? / What is the location of Adi Kailash & Om Mountain?

Coordinates of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat:

Adi Kailash (Chota Kailash /Baba Kailash ) Latitude 30.3188’North and Longitude 80.6328’East stand at an Elevation of 6310 metres (20702 feet) and OM Parvat Latitude 30.1988’ North and Longitude 81.0310’Eastnstands at an elevation of 5590 metres (18340 feet.).

Location of Adi Kailash:
Adi Kailash is located in the upper Himalayan range of Uttarakhand in the Pithoragarh district of the Kumaon region. It is situated at an Aerial distance of approx 105 km from Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet. Adi Kailash / Baba Kailash in Uttarakhand itself is such a holy shrine which must be visited once in a lifetime. It is believed that Mount Kailash which is believed to be the foremost adobe of Lord Shiva and the first of Panch Kailash and Adi Kailash which is the second adobe of Lord Shiva also second in the tally of Panch Kailash lies in the same mountain range. The distance of Gunji from Dharchula is approx 90 km and Gunji to Adi Kailash base /Jolingkong is approx 40km. So we Travel a total of 130 km from Dharchula to reach Adi Kailash Base.

Location of OM Parvat:
Though Om Parvat is shared by all three countries China, Nepal, and India. But its true glory can only be seen from the Nabhidang which is a viewpoint located on the Indian side. It is believed that there are a total of eight naturally formed OM in the world but only one has been discovered so far. Many pilgrims feel a mesmerizing spiritual connection when they are in the region looking at the natural formation of OM. It is as if the holy word has itself taken a shape of its own to bless people.

Lipulekh Pass:
Nabhidhang which is the viewpoint for OM Parvat is only around 10 km from Lipulekh Pass. Mount Kailash is around 90 to 96 km from Lipulekh Pass. The Distance of Gunji from Dharchula is approx 90 km and Gunji to Nabhidhang viewpoint from where we get the darshan of OM Parvat is approx 20 km, so a total of 110 km is covered from Dharchula to OM Parvat viewpoint (Nabhidang).

Can we go to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra by helicopter?

 As for now Adi Kailash Yatra and Om parvat yatra is done by road. No procedures for Adi Kailash Yatra by helicopter have been introduced yet. Helicopters are used only for the sole purpose of helping and rescuing.
Trip to Temples will look into this matter if there are any possibilities of yatra being done by helicopter in future and will work for it accordingly. 

 

 

Do we need to trek on the Adi Kailash & Om Parvat Yatra?

Trek for Adi Kailash: Until 2021, there was a compulsory trek of 200 km approx in the Adi Kailash and OM Parvat yatra from Dharchula to Dharchula , which was to be done to witness the Holy Peak of Adi Kailash and OM Parvat .But now with the development of new road network up to Jolingkong and Nabidhang only an optional trek of 2-3 km to Parvati Sarovar and Chota Kailash Temple and 3-4km to Gauri kund is left from Jolingkong. Adi Kailash from Jolingkong Base: Vehicles drop you at Jolingkong Base and beyond that point vehicles are not allowed by Army and local people so as to maintain holiness and sanctum of the place. The Holy Peak of Adi Kailash is clearly visible from Jolingkong Base, so going for trek is not compulsory and one hundred percent optional. Mules (Khachar)for the trek: .Pilgrims can hire mules(khachar) and porters at Jolingkong Base who are scarcely available there to help them with the trek, usually, they charge up to Rs 2000 for a trek up to Parvati Sarovar and up to Rs 4000 for a trek up to Gauri Kund in Adi Kailash.It is advisable to not go on the trek on your own without a company as Altitude is high around 14,200 ft in Parvati Sarovar and up to 15,000 ft in Gauri Kund Jolingkong Base____2-3 km ____Adi Kailash Temple/Parvati Sarovar___3-4km___Gauri Kund.

How many routes are available for Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra?

Adi Kailash is a place of serenity where Lord Shiva once resided. Not less than a wonder, the OM Parvat is located at three country borders; India, Nepal and Tibet. To get blessings from the Adi Kailash-vasi Lord Shiva, many pilgrims visit to Adi Kailash and to glorify the yatra Om Parvat darshan is also done during the same yatra duration. Adi Kailash and OM Parvat both are accessible only through the Kumaon Region of Uttarakhand, India. In Ancient times, many hermits and sages visited Adi Kailash and OM Parvat en route to visiting Kailash Mansarovar. Later trekking was developed for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from India, that trekking trail was also used for Adi Kailash Yatra trek. The Adi Kailash yatra trek distance used to be 200 km from Dharchula till the year 2019. Post covid the yatra was halted and the trekking route missed its maintenance and has become the Old Route for Adi Kailash Yatra which is not in use. Due to the new motorable road construction for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from India in this region, accessibility by vehicle has become possible for Adi Kailash Yatra and in 2021 the yatra resumed but now by vehicle which made the duration of the yatra much shorter than before.
As for now, there is only one available new route for Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra which starts from Tanakpur or Kathgodam-Pithoragarh-Dharchula-Gunji-Jolingkong(Adi Kailash)-Gunji/-Nabhidang(Om Parvat)-Dharchula-Didihat/ Chaukori-Kathgodam or Tanakpur.

How to go to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat?
Adi Kailash and OM Parvat yatra was inaccessible to many people due to its long route, limited resources and difficult terrain to travel on. It is still one of the unexplored pilgrimage gems of India despite its pious glory. Many people are still unaware of the significance it holds in the legends. It is advisable that you go on this Holy yatra with a trusted company (Trip To Temples TTT) Unit of Divine Mantra Pvt. There are two ways via which you can reach Dharchula easily:
By Tanakpur - You can reach Tanakpur by Car, Train or Bus as it is easily accessible from Delhi and after that reach Dharchula via a Taxi, shared Taxi or your own vehicle. Uttarakhand Roadways buses run but they run in limited numbers to Dharchula from Delhi.
 
By Kathgodam/Haldwani - If you are coming from Delhi to Kathgodam then you can use the Ranikhet Express train which departs at 10:05 Pm from Delhi and reach Kathgodam at 5:00 Am in the morning.
You can also use Volvo buses from Delhi to reach Haldwani and then reach Kathgodam via auto, buses or taxis.
.Haldwani to Kathgodam is only around 7.5km.   
 
Different Packages of Trip To Temples :
Trip TO Temples offers Adi Kailash and OM Parvat Yatra packages from Delhi, Kathgodam and Dharchula. Popularly Kathgodam To Kathgodam package is preferred by yatris as it covers all 18 Holy sight scenes. If you want your Adi Kailash Yatra package from Dharchula then you have to reach Dharchula on your own as the Yatra date.
 
Transportation for Adi Kailash and OM Parvat:
The mode of transportation for Adi Kailash Yatra used by Trip To Temples from Kathgodam to Dharchula and Dharchula to Kathgodam is Tempo-Traveller which is 13-seaters (push-back seats). After reaching Dharchula Camper Bolero 4x4 is used to cover the further distance to Adi Kailash and OM parvat. To make yatra more comfortable for our yatris we only accommodate 4 to 5 pilgrims in one camper bolero as the road is not well pitched from Dharchula to Adi Kailash and OM Parvat.
