Trip To Temples provides a detailed list of things to carry that are required for the Kailash Yatra 30 to 45 days before the Kailash Yatra date. This list of requirements will help you in the preparation for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. 
The list has various categories such as Clothing, Medical kits, Food items, toiletries, Miscellaneous, etc. The essential items are highlighted in the Things to carry list.

 

What medicines do we need to carry for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

Generally, people do not feel the requirement for medications during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Yet, basic medicines that are commonly used are suggested for the yatris to carry with them. Firstly it is essential to carry any medications that are consumed regularly under course like for Blood Pressure, Diabetes, asthma, etc. Also, it is suggested to carry doctor-prescribed medications in case you are allergic to anything. Timely before the yatra date, all yatris are provided with a List of Things to carry for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra that has the following medicines suggested in the list.

  • Diamox
  • Pain Killer
  • Paracetamol
  • Multivitamin pills
  • Antibiotics
  • Mosquito Repellent
  • Portable Oxygen Cylinders are suggested to carry along, it helps during the two and half days parikrama at low oxygen level places. Portable oxygen cylinders can be bought from Saga Market on the Overland route and at Purang on the Helicopter route, buying here is the cheaper and better option. 
  • Camphor is also commonly used by yatris during the parikrama to feel at ease at low oxygen levels. We do not suggest or oppose the idea of whether camphor/Kapoor can be used to in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. It is completely yatris preference. 

The consumption of any of the above-listed medicines is suggested to be done only after a doctor’s consultation.

Is there any problem with carrying an advanced Camera or DSLR in Kailash Yatra?

There is no problem in carrying an advanced Camera or DSLR in Kailash Yatra, however, Drone is not allowed in the Tibet part of the Kailash yatra.

Is there any problem in carrying an advanced Camera or DSLR in Kailash Yatra?

There is no problem/restriction in carrying an advanced Camera or DSLR in Kailash Yatra. However, Drone is not allowed in Kailash yatra.

What type of luggage bag should I bring? Can I take my bag for Kailash Yatra?

One large duffle bag with a cover for luggage and one small backpack to keep essentials during trekking, both of these will be provided by Trip To Temples. It is advisable not to carry a trolley or airbag for your comfort as it is difficult to carry. It is better if you use the bags provided by us rather than carrying your luggage bag.
You can carry any type of luggage bag till Nepalganj (in Helicopter Kailash Yatra) and Kathmandu (in Bus Kailash Yatra), where you will be given good quality duffle bag and backpack by Trip To Temples (u/o Divine Mantra Pvt Ltd). Each bag will have a unique number for identification. You will have to shift your essential items in the bag provided for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. 
Carrying your own luggage for further Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not advisable because there is a high probability of luggage getting mixed or misplaced in transit or custom check. Similar bags with unique number helps in identifying the bags belonging to the company.

 

How many clothes do I need to carry for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

The list that you will be provided by Trip To Temples 30 to 45 days before the Kailash Yatra date will contain all the details of what type of cloth you need to carry along with its quantity.

Can I carry some dry fruits and my food items for Kailash Yatra?

Yes, you can carry dry fruits and other food items too on the Kailash Yatra. Although three meals each day will be provided to you by Trip To Temples. You can purchase these food items from the local markets of Tibet and Nepal.

Am I allowed to carry Cigarettes and Tobacco in Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

Although there is no restriction on carrying cigarettes and tobacco, it is advisable not to carry such things on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra because firstly Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are pilgrimage places and secondly fellow tourists may not be comfortable with the same on a pilgrimage tour. Also, it is advisable to avoid such things at high altitudes as it may hamper your health.
