What is the total Kailash Mansarovar Yatra cost?
Q. How much does the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra cost on all routes?
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra cost is higher due to the challenges and procedures faced during planning, execution, and travel, as well as high taxes resulting from international conditions (Chinese and Tibetan) that apply. The package cost is also high because a major portion of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra package is charged by the Tibetan authorities, whose costs are quoted in USD. The Kailash Yatra package includes a Group VISA, Group Permit, transportation, accommodation, 1 Tibetan guide, 1 Nepali guide, and a team of sherpas who will carry your luggage.

Q. Which currency is required for the Kailash Yatra, and where can I exchange it?
Only Rs. 100 and Rs. 200, Indian currencies, are generally accepted in Nepal. Whereas, Tibet accepts the Chinese Yuan. Anywhere on the Kailash Yatra, exchanging currency is simple; the majority of people would either exchange money in Nepal or at the border between Nepal and Tibet. Time affects the exchange rate since it is constantly changing. Since UPI, international debit cards, and ATM cards are generally not accepted anywhere in this region, it is advised that you carry cash.
Q. Is USD acceptable during the Kailash Yatra?
During the Kailash Yatra, USD is rarely accepted. Nonetheless, it is best to exchange your regional currency for the local currency, i.e., the Chinese Yuan, and avoid using any foreign cash for a convenient and hassle-free yatra experience.
Q. How much personal expense may one incur during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, and how much money should one carry?
The majority of the items are covered within your Kailash Yatra package; however, there are three main areas where personal expenses may arise: shopping, medical (in case of emergency), and pony-porter services during Kailash Parikrama. The cost of pony and porter ranges from 3500 to 4000 Yuan. Moreover, the cost of purchasing varies from person to person, and the cost of medical care (500 to 1000 Yuan) depends on the evacuation location. There are also reasonably priced basic hospitals located in the Kailash region, so there’s no need to worry much.
Q. How much do medical/hospitalisation or evacuation cost during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?
The location from which the pilgrim is being evacuated determines the evacuation fee. The ambulance service is only offered until Kailash Parikrama's first day. A drop to Darchen will cost about 500-700 CNY per person, and a drop to Purang Town will cost about 1000 CNY per person. Please note that these prices can be quoted differently from what we said, as local facilitation might get price-hiked over time.
Q. Where can I return unused NPR and Yuan after completing the Kailash Yatra?
On completing the Kailash Yatra, you can return the unused NPR and Yuan in Nepal or at the Nepal-Tibet border. There are many exchange centres available over there.
