Trimbakeshwar is a historic Hindu pilgrimage site situated at the origin of the Godavari River, the longest river in South India. Trimbakeshwar is where one of the twelve Jyotirlingas is located. The unique aspect of the Jyotirlinga at this location is that the Linga in the temple represents the Tridev - Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva. The current Trimbakeshwar temple was built by the third Peshwa Balaji Bajirao (1740-1760) on the grounds of an ancient temple. Entry gates are located on each of the four sides, namely.
