Panj Takht
Panj Takht refers to the group of five holy gurudwaras deeply regarded as holy in Sikhism. The five Takhts are: Akal Takht Sahib (Amritsar, Punjab), Takht Sri Kes Garh Sahib (Anandpur, Punjab), Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo, Punjab), Takht Sri Patna Sahib (Patna, Bihar) and Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib (Nanded, Maharashtra). These five Sikh shrines are the pillars of Sikhism that narrate the life and stories of Sikh Gurus, while also upholding and preserving the values and traditions of Sikhism. Additionally, they continue to guide the lives of Sikhs today by serving as centres of learning for Sikh community. The legacy of Panj Takht shrines have shaped Sikh tourism in India.
