The Golden Temple in Amritsar, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib, is a beautiful piece of spiritual architecture that is covered in 400 kg of gold leaf. The temple's history goes back to 1577, when Guru Ram Das Ji dug up the holy tank. Guru Arjan Dev Ji built the temple with four doors to show that God's house is open to everyone, no matter what caste or religion they are. Guru Nanak Dev Ji started the Langar as a way to live out the idea of equality every day.
The walls of Jallianwala Bagh, where the tragic 1919 massacre happened, are a reminder of India's fight for freedom. The Attari-Wagah Border, which is close by, shows how proud a country is to be independent. The trip also includes a visit to Ram Tirath, an old site that is thought to be the ashram of Sage Valmiki, where the Goddess Sita went to hide and give birth to Luv and Kush. The Devi Talab Mandir in Jalandhar is a strong Shakti Peeth that has been around for more than 200 years. The Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum keeps the legacy of the "Lion of Punjab" alive from the 18th century.
Our Amritsar Jalandhar Pilgrimage Tour brings these old stories to life over the course of four days and three nights. We connect holy temples with historic sites to give you a journey that is as much about finding India's soul as it is about your own faith.

Frequently Asked Questions
Punjab Spiritual Tour 2026: Full Itinerary for Amritsar, Jalandhar & Beyond
What are the temperatures I should expect during each season?
The best time to visit is in the winter (October to March), when the temperature is between 5°C and 25°C. At night, it can get very cold, so bring heavy woollens. In Summer (April to June) it is very hot, often over 40°C. If we travel now, we plan all of our sightseeing for the early morning and late evening. In the Monsoon (July to September) season, it's hot and humid, with temperatures around 30°C. Keep an umbrella on hand for sudden rain.
Is this tour good for older people?
Yes, the tour moves at a comfortable pace for everyone. But there is some walking to do because Amritsar's Heritage Street (near the Golden Temple) is a "no-vehicle zone." We suggest using e-rickshaws whenever you can to avoid putting too much strain on your body. We also always make sure that hotel stays are close to the main attractions.
What do I need to know before going to Devi Talab Mandir in Jalandhar?
It is very important because it is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths. The temple is well-known for its big holy tank (Talab) and its old temple to Lord Shiva. The Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan (the world's oldest classical music festival, held in December) makes it especially lively. It is peaceful, like the Golden Temple, but you may not be able to take pictures in the inner sanctum.
Is it okay for anyone to eat at the Langar (Community Kitchen)?
Of course. Anyone can eat at the Langar at the Golden Temple, no matter what their religion, caste or background is. It is a beautiful experience of being equal. You sit in rows on the floor and are given a simple, healthy vegetarian meal. You can also help out with Sewa (service) by washing dishes or cooking.
How far do you have to walk to get to the Attari-Wagah Border ceremony?
There is a fair amount of walking involved in the ceremony. Most of the time, visitors have to walk about a kilometre from the parking lot to the stadium stands. We suggest getting there at least two hours early to get through security and find a good seat in the open-air gallery because it gets very crowded.
When is the best time to see the ceremonies at the Golden Temple?
The temple is open all the time, but the Palki Sahib ceremony at Amrit Vela (around 4:00 AM) is the most moving time. This is when the Guru Granth Sahib is brought to the inner sanctum. You could also go at night to see the temple lit up and reflected in the Sarovar, which is an experience you'll never forget.
Do you have to wear certain clothes to the Golden Temple and Devi Talab Mandir?
Yes, being modest is important. Men and women must cover their heads before entering the temple grounds. There are free handkerchiefs and scarves at the entrance. You shouldn't wear shorts, sleeveless tops or short skirts. Your shoulders and knees should be covered. Also, remember that you should take off your shoes and wash your feet at the entrance pools as a sign of respect.
