Raulane Tradition of Himachal Pradesh: History, Rituals, Cultural Significance & Living Heritage
Raulane, a very beautiful celebration that is so hyped on social media. Yes, you guessed it right: it is that festival, which reels with the song “Kaal Karm Klesh Bhasm, Aadesh Aadesh," in which men wearing the weird red mask and women wearing red masks with heavy jewellry on their faces are dancing and throwing some powder at those who are witnessing this celebration.
India, a country with a lot of traditions and culture from north to south, east to west, has different festival celebrations. In the same way, Himachal Pradesh Kapla celebrated this festival, in which they marked the farewell of celestial spirits believed to protect the villagers during harsh winters, and it blended ritual, symbolism, and community devotion. Every moment this festival carries centuries of belief, mystery, and cultural richness that are still present now, from men changing into divine grooms and women into bridal figures to quiet, haunting dances in holy temples.
