However every year, during the time of Shivratri, the dates for opening and closing of the gates of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri is released. The Chardham Yatra takes place from May to October every year, however pilgrims often prefer the months of May and June because, it is the summer season and the weather remains pleasant. During July and August, yatra remains closed due to rains. People who would like to avoid the rush, they prefer going in September and October and the weather becomes comparatively cold.
