Hemkund Sahib is a religious place of sikh religion , and it is devoted to 10th Guru of Sikhs Shri Guru Gobind Singh and is located in Uttarakhand. This beautiful Gurudwara, also known as Gurudwara Sri Hemkund Sahib Ji, is situated at an altitude of around 4329 metres, on the bank of the pristine Hemkund Lake.Hemkund Sahib is situated in the same mountain ranges as of Valley of Flowers. The beautiful valley enhances the beauty of trek with various flowers blooming at peak. One of the most revered Sikh shrines. It is also  the world's highest Gurudwara and  remains open for only 4 months in a year from June to October and for the rest of the months it remains closed due to heavy snowfall.

    

It is recorded in the holy Granth Sahib that the Tenth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Govind Singh, meditated by the banks of Hemkund lake in one of his earlier births.It is also said that Lakshmana, the younger brother of Lord Rama regained his health by meditating on the banks of Hemkund lake after the severe injuries he received in the war with Demon king Ravana.The Lakshmana temple is said to have been built at the place where Lakshmana meditated.
