Badrinath Temple, one of the four sacred shrines amongst the Chota Char Dham Yatra, is opening on 4th May, 2025, announces BKTC. The Char Dham Yatra has started from Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham Darshan on 30th April, and devotees are eagerly awaiting the opening of Badrinath Temple tomorrow.

The season’s much-awaited pilgrimage, the Kedarnath Yatra, is finally here, as the temple panels are opening on the 2nd of May 2025, following the festival of Akshay Tritiya. In a significant ritual, Lord Shiva’s Panchmukhi idol is brought back to Kedarnath Dham from Shri Omkareshwar Temple (Ukhimath) before the temple opens. 

Uttarakhand is all set for Char Dham Yatra in 2025, the much-awaited Yatra of the year for Hindu devotees, beginning from 30th April, occurring alongside Akshay Tritiya (a Hindu spring festival). The opening dates for Kedarnath and Badrinath Temple is 2nd May and 4th May respectively. 

Char Dham Yatra is a prominent pilgrimage circuit for Hindus, yet pilgrims from other communities like Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists take part in it. Two of the primary Char Dhams- Badrinath Temple and Kedarnath Temple witnessed 1.42 million and 1.65 million pilgrims in 2024 respectively. Altogether, a staggering tourist footfall of 4.8 million pilgrims was recorded for Char Dham Yatra, in the same year. Char Dham Yatra includes a visit to the four temples located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath.
