Rameswaram, Kanyakumari, Trivandrum & Their Spiritual Significance

The trip starts at the grand Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai. This is one of the most important temples for Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar. It is a great example of Dravidian architecture and devotion, with its tall gopurams and colourful sculptures. For more than two thousand years, this city, which is shaped like a lotus, has been the center of Tamil culture and spirituality.

From here, you can go to Rameswaram, where the holy Ramanathaswamy Temple is located. It is one of Lord Shiva's twelve Jyotirlingas. The temple is known for its beautiful hallways and 22 holy theerthams. The Ramayana says that Lord Rama prayed to Shiva here before going to Lanka to make up for killing Ravana. You can also visit the Kothandaramaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, which is near the sea where Vibhishana is said to have given up to Lord Rama. The APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial is also in Rameswaram and honours India's former president and Bharat Ratna awardee.

The spiritual journey goes on to Kanyakumari, where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean all meet. It is thought that Swami Vivekananda meditated at Vivekananda Rock Memorial before giving his famous speech in Chicago. The tall Thiruvalluvar Statue, which honours the classical Tamil poet-saint, is nearby. Finally, you go to the old Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) to ask for blessings. This is the richest shrine in the world, and you can see Lord Vishnu lying on the serpent Anantha in the Anantha Sayanam (eternal sleep) position.
