Located in the premises of the enchanting Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, Kedarkantha is a majestic mountain peak of the Himalayas. The 11 KMs trek starts from Sankri village and leads to the summit which is at an elevation of around 4000 m above sea level. Kedarkantha peak is Lord Shiva’s resting place where he used to meditate before moving to Kailash. Witness the mythical lake Juda Ka Talab midway, which is said to be formed by the droplet fallen from Lord Shiva’s hair. This lake remains frozen in winters. After reaching the apex, the view of the marvelous peaks of the Himalayan range. One of the few treks that is open in winters, Kedarkantha is an easy grade trek and an undemanding trail makes it apt for winters and famous among trekkers.
