The history of Naimisharanya is the history of the universe itself. According to the Brahmanas and Puranas, when the sages wanted to find the most sacred spot on Earth to perform a thousand-year-long Yagya, they approached Lord Brahma. He created a divine wheel (Chakra) from his mind and told the sages to follow it, stating that where the rim (Nimi) of the wheel shattered, that would be the "Naimisha" or the center of the world. The wheel finally came to rest at the Chakra Tirtha, creating a bottomless, circular spring of holy water. This forest became so sanctified that it is the only place where all 88,000 sages meditated at once, and it is here that Sage Ved Vyas divided the four Vedas and composed the 18 Puranas. For a devotee, walking through this forest is like walking through the library of Indian civilization.
The nearby town of Misrikh carries a story of unmatched sacrifice that still moves the heart. It was here that Sage Dadhichi stayed. When the gods were being terrorized by the demon Vritra, they learned that only a weapon made from the bones of a truly selfless sage could defeat him. Without a moment’s hesitation, Sage Dadhichi gave up his life, allowing the gods to use his spine to create the 'Vajra' (thunderbolt) for Lord Indra. Before his sacrifice, Dadhichi wished to bathe in all the holy rivers of India. To save time, the Lord brought the waters of all rivers together into the Dadhichi Kund at Misrikh. Even today, a dip in this kund is considered equal to a dip in all the holy rivers of the country. These twin towns represent the highest peaks of Vedic wisdom and the spirit of selfless service.

Overview
At Trip to Temples, we believe that some places on earth hold a different kind of silence. Naimisharanya is one of them. Known as the "Forest of the Nimisha," this is where the spinning wheel of Brahma finally came to rest, marking it as the center of the universe. Our 4-day Naimisharanya Misrikh Pilgrimage takes you to the very spot where the Puranas were first narrated to 88,000 sages. From the mystical Chakra Tirtha to the powerful Lalita Devi Shakti Peeth, this tour is a deep dive into the roots of Sanatan Dharma.
The best time to visit is from October to March, when the Uttar Pradesh winter makes the temple walks and kund visits truly refreshing (10°C to 22°C). While the summer (April–June) can be quite intense (30°C to 45°C), the monsoon adds a beautiful green canopy to this ancient forest. We handle the road travel from Lucknow and all your stays, so you can simply focus on the ancient vibrations of this holy land.
