What’s Ramayana Circuit?

The Ramayana Circuit is a spiritual tourism route linking key places from the epic Ramayana across India and Sri Lanka, tracing Lord Rama’s journey, exile, battles, and return.

Ayodhya

The birthplace of Lord Ram, Ayodhya, is situated in Uttar Pradesh, India. This ancient city is central to the epic of Ramayana. Attractions to visit include Ayodhya Ram Temple, Hanuman Garhi, Ram Janmabhoomi, and Kanak Bhawan.

Chitrakoot

Chitrakoot is a place where Lord Rama spent his exile with his wife Maa Sita and brother Lakshman, and is spread across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Key spots here include Ram Ghat, Bharat Milap Temple, and Kamadgiri.

Panchavati

Located in Nashik, Maharashtra, and is believed to be where Maa Sita was abducted by Ravana. Visit the Sita Gufa, Kalaram Temple, and Godavari Ghat here.

Kishkindha

Located in Hampi, Karnataka, is the monkey kingdom ruled by Sugriva, and as per the belief, Lord Rama met Lord Hanuman here. Attractions to see include Anjaneya Hill and Rishimukh Mountain.

Rameswaram

The place where Lord Rama built the all-time legend, the Ram Setu, to reach Lanka, is located in Tamil Nadu. Visit Ramanathaswamy Temple, Dhanushkodi (the last land and a beautiful motorable route of India where you can experience sea breeze across the sides), and the floating stones of Rama. It’s also one of the Char Dham pilgrimages.

Ashok Vatika

Located in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka, Ashok Vatika is believed to be where Sita Mata was kept by Ravana. The famous spot to visit here is Seetha Amman Temple, built at the spot where Sita Mata was kept.

Ravana’s Palace

The rock fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ravana’s palace, with epic stories. The place is located in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka.

Munneswaram Temple

After the victory over Ravana, Lord Rama prayed to Lord Shiva here to absolve the sin of killing Ravana, a Brahim, and the temple is situated in Chilaw, Sri Lanka. It is an important stop on the Ramayana trail.
