Kailash Mansarovar Yatra comes with a unique experience for the travelers in a number of ways. Witnessing the breathtaking view of Mount Kailash and taking a dip into the sacred water of Lake Mansarovar is believed to cleanse off all the sins of the pilgrims. Most of the travelers focus more on enjoying the scenic beauty of Kailash Mansarovar. The journey is difficult, but rewarding one. But it is important for them all to keep in mind certain important tips to ensure safety while being on the trip.
If you are planning to go on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra this year, you need to be prepared about the journey by keeping in mind the following 10 significant tips:
Because of the height to be traveled to reach Kailash Mansarovar, one may feel breathing issues at the height because of lack of oxygen in the air. So, people who suffer from breathing problems like asthma and similar others, are advised not to visit this place or consult with a Doctor. They may not be able to bear the discomfort causes during the journey.
Some people do not like to drink warm water in general. But because of the cold weather during the Yatra, they will be provided with normal, hot or Luke warm water to drink. Still, it will be advisable for them to make the habit of drinking warm water, to prevent any sort of inconvenience while doing the Yatra.
As a part of the Yatra, almost all travelers like to stay indulged in healthy munching, while enjoying the scenic beauty around. Even though the eatables will be provided by those you book a package from, you are advised to carry chips, sweets, candies, khakhra etc. for the trip to the mountains.
Climbing up the mountains or do trekking as a part of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra requires an individual to stay fit and be active in terms of physical activities. So, if you are a person who do not usually do physical exercises or Yoga, it will be best for you to start doing fitness exercises at least a month before the day to leave for the Yatra.
When being out of the home country, any uncertain event may happen at any point of time. So, it will be best for you to buy a travel insurance policy (if available for Kailash Mansarovar yatra) from a renowned insurance company in India. The policy will protect you against any personal loss, injury or emergency situation, if any. Also, you should make sure that the policy covers emergency evacuation at high altitude regions.
Kailash Yatra includes traveling to Nepal and Tibet outside India, where Indian currency will not be accepted. So, it will be best for you to arrange some foreign currency in advance. You can also arrange YUAN, which can be exchanged in the other countries for their native currencies.
Even though the weather near the mountains will be cold, you are advised not to carry too much clothes with you. This is because a heavy luggage may only cause burden to you, as you climb the mountains as a part of your journey. Instead, travel light.
While you will do the Parikrama of Mount Kailash, you may start to feel breathing issues. In case of any inconvenience related to health, you are advised to inform and get helped by your tour guide. In some places, oxygen levels become very low. So, you should better not stay there for a long time, but continue moving forward, as advised by your tour guide. You can also carry portable oxygen cylinder which you can purchase in Tibet.
While you will be climbing up the mountains, feeling attracted to the view around is obvious. But you are advised to inspect your track or the path you follow carefully especially in starting 6km of 2nd day trekking, while moving forward. Since the path will not be flat, you may fall or slip off from it and hurt yourself with fractures or muscle pain.
On your journey to the Mount Kailash, you will meet and find other travelers and may even be grouped with them by the tour guide. While on the mountains, you are advised not to leave your group ever, while also take care of others.

I have gone to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with other three female family members in a conducted tour by Trip to Temple ( batch no-H1824) from 22 Aug 2018 to 1st September 2018. It was really a amazing trip, Lord shiva full filled my life long wish and we have such a nice and memorable yatra. Except initial hiccups at Nepalgunj due to bad weather for two days The complete yatra is completed quite comfortably without any tension. In all 68 (28+40) members were there in the group. The complete group members were very good to each other and moved as a cohesive group without any problem. Credit goes to the temple to trip team management for proper arrangement and nice cooperative behavior of all the group members. It was not easy to manage such a large group with some limitations but your staff managed it nicely and the service staff was humble and supportive. Though through out the trip we were well taken care by the trip organizer (Trip to Temple) but few points ( as stated below) are worth mentioning here to prove the point that all possible efforts were taken by the organizer to make the trip comfortable & enjoyable without any additional monitory burden on the trip members. 1- Throughout the trip ,hot food was arranged with sweet dish inspire of limited facilities available for them in all remote areas. Here it is worth mentioning that at Derapuk, hot night dinner and hot water was served in each room by your staff. 2- Good gesture by them by providing hot water and tent facility for ladies for bath at Mansarovar lake. 3- Arranging Pandit ji for group Puja at Mansarovar Lake after bath. 4- Gladly listening with patience and accepting the suggestions given by group members time to time, e.g.,creating "KMY Kailash Yatri2018" Watsapp group for better communication, listing group members in sub groups for taking helicopter trip etc. 5- During the trip attending courteously and patiently all the queries about us from our family members. 6- Last but not the least, inspite of two days additional stay at Nepalgunj in hotel due to bad weather, no additional money was demanded by them and the complete expenditure was absorbed by them. As stated above the trip was nicely organized by you, but as you know, one should always look for improvement. So keeping this in mind, I suggest that you may arrange for low power CFL/LED bulbs in place of regular high power filament bulbs at all places in your night halts (where electricity supply was provided by solar power). so that with the same available solar power lights can be provided in the rooms during early morning hours also. This will certainly make early morning activities much easier. I am sure you will take it as a suggestion and not as a compliant. In one sentence I want to record that I am fully satisfied after completing my Mansarovar yatra and Kailash three days parikrama ( though on horse) comfortably and safely with God grace and due to well organized trip & all trip members support and good wishes. With all the good wishes and blessings to all the group members and Trip to Temple team.
